To the Residents and
Customers of Sienna Plantation MUD No. 2:
Enclosed with August's water bill, you will find a letter provided to us by
Sienna MUD No. 1 regarding the discovery of elevated fluoride levels in our
water supply. Sienna MUD No. 1 owns and operates all the water plants in
Sienna Plantation and supplies wholesale water to all the municipal utility
districts in Sienna Plantation.
Since we received this
letter, we have been working with Sienna MUD No. 1 to develop solutions to
reduce the level of fluoride in the water. We will keep you informed of our
progress on potential solutions via our website.
In the meantime, we
strongly encourage you to discuss the heath effects of these fluoride levels
with your medical professionals. We are fortunate to have a Dr. Brian MacHart, DDS with Fort Bend Dental Associates serve on our Board of
Directors. According Dr. MacHart, while the levels of fluoride in the water
may increase the risk of discolored teeth, drinking water with no fluoride
(such as most bottled water) raises even greater concerns that your children
might not receive enough systemic fluoride thus creating an increased risk
of dental decay (e.g., cavities).
